The John Laurance Seymour Collection contains materials related to Seymours work as a composer, the performing arts, his life and personal interests in culture and history.

Seymour's music collection contains his works as well as works from various other American and European composers. Included are operas, pop songs, sheet music, instruction books, and hand written scores. His performing arts collection is largely made up of playbills, programs and magazines relating to stage and screen. Including a large collection of playbills and posters for various performances range from 1870-1985.

Additional items were collected or created by Seymour during his lifetime. Much of his correspondence relates to his philanthropical work with various cultural and educational organizations. Most of his personal papers consist of photo albums of his early life in Hollywood and Los Angeles, his travels, and clippings of performances he either attended or researched.

As a world traveler some items were collected from his travels. In the collection there are tickets, brochures, photographs, posters, artifacts, telegrams, menus and other travel related documents from every continent, except Australia and Antarctica. Included in the travel collection are his memorabilia of various artifacts, including books, figurines, textiles, pottery and stones.
