Institutional Information
Southern Utah University’s (SUU) origins began in 1897 when the Branch Normal School (BNS) was created in Cedar City, Utah. Since its original creation SUU has also been known as the Branch Agricultural College (BAC), the College of Southern Utah (CSU) and Southern Utah State College (SUSC). In 1991, SUSC was changed to a four-year university, and SUU was born. Since it’s gaining university status, SUU has grown to a student body of over 15,000 students.
