Scope and Content
This collection contains materials such as maps, pamphlets, books, booklets, promotional materials and other general items pertaining to national park, national monuments, state parks and public land recreation for sites located in the Great Basin and American Southwest.

Regional History
The Public Lands in Southern Utah has a brief, and rich history. The earliest settlers to the Mountain West greatly respected the lands in which they lived. Over the years, many different organizations designated areas of state for public use. As of 2025, Utah has over 500 public land sites, including National and State Parks, Monuments, Historical Landmarks, and Bureau of Land Management locations.
