Biographical Information

Ed School was born June 24, 1894, in Lucas Michigan to Henry and Hildo School. He attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly after the United States entered World War I. There he was assigned to the Field Artillery unit and served in various campaigns in France. After his return he married Adrianna Spykerman in 1926 in Buffalo, Wyoming. He began his career by teaching school in South Dakota, moving on to homesteading in Kaycee Wyoming and working in placer mining in Colorado. After coming to Beaver County, he prospected and mined for gold in the Indian Creek District of the Beaver Mountains. He then moved to Milford to operate the Old Hickory mine and then worked as President of the Prosper Mining Company. In 1949, he discovered a perlite deposit in the Mineral Mountains east of Milford. In February 1968, Ed was killed in a mining accident at the mine. Ed was buried in the Milford Cemetery.
