Scope and Contents

The Warren Anderson Collection contains photographs and from and documents. Photographs include Johnson Fort, Utah, taken in 1976 and photographs of students and campus of the Branch Normal School (BNS) from approximately 1910. Documents are divided into two main areas. The first, Cedar City and Iron County were collected by Anderson. Included are early administrative records for the Water Commission, bank, and Iron County Treasury. Other documents relate to local residents. The second area relates to Iron County Schools and BNS and student life. Included are dance cards, invitations, report card and a student body card.

Biographical / Historical

Warren Anderson grew up in Southern California. He first attended Brigham Young University, then transferred to Southern Utah State College. While a student worked at the college radio station and on the student newspaper. He graduated from SUSC with Bachelor of Arts in Communications. In 1the late 1970s he began a nine year career in journalism with the Daily Spectrum newspaper, in St. George, Utah. Eventually becoming the editor and manager of the Cedar City office. Since 1980 he has been the owner of a business specializing in the sale of old historical documents from the western U.S. and is a recognized expert and advisor on rare and historical western documents and autographs. He is author of two books, including Owning Western History - A Reference Guide to Collecting Old and Historical Western Documents.
