Cedar City Rock Club

The Cedar City Rock Club was organized April 12, 1948, with Branch Agricultural College Professor Parley Dalley as President, Otto Fife as Vice-President, Kenneth LeSeur as Second Vice-President, After Peters as Secretary, Cal Smith as Treasurer and Robert Loer as Historian. After the announcement of the club’s organization, twenty-six interested individuals attended the first meeting. The membership for the year grew to 45.

The objectives of the club were to foster and promote the study and collection of geologic samples, help with classification and labeling, lapidary work and sponsor and promote monthly educational field trips. In 1950, the Club held its first annual Rock Show.

Since then, the club has continued to provide these opportunities, with an average yearly membership of 35.
