Biographical Information
When Gronway Robert Parry was born the third of nine children on 22 February 1888 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Gronway Parry and Laura Althea Gardner. He enlisted for military service in 1918, and was a veteran of World War I. He married Afton Leone Parrish on 30 November 1922, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Gronway and his brother opened the Parry Transportation company, which provided the first transportation to Zion National Park and Navajo Lake. This company was eventually sold to the Utah Parks Company. Gronway served as Cedar City Mayor from 1948-1950. Additionally, he was a pioneer in Cedar City Business by starting the first laundry, Buick Car Dealership in the community, as well as working to develop several subdivisions. A collector of pioneer transportation he established a collection of horse drawn vehicles that became the foundation of the Iron Mission Park Museum's, currently the Frontier Homestead State Park, transportation collection. He died on 2 May 1969, in Cedar City, Iron, Utah, United States, at the age of 81, and was buried in Cedar City, Iron, Utah, United States.

Accession Information
This collection was donated by Gronway Parry in 1970 and by Carol Ann Parry Nyman.
Separated Materials
At some point photography IRO-MY-25, a photograph of Gronway Parry during his tenure of Cedar City's Mayor, was removed from the collection and added to the Iron County Photograph Collection.
Processing Information
This finding aid was created by the Special Collections Staff, Gerald R. Sherratt Library. If print, oversize or other materials have been removed to be stored separately, it will be noted. This collections was reprocessed in 2024 by Susan Christopher. Prior to that, the following items had been found in the Cedar Sheep Assocation Ledgers collection. There were identified as military notebooks from the Parry Brother's during the 1910s. The were removed from the other collection and added to this one. 871 Squadron Mechanics notes G.R.
