The George Wood Collections consists of family records including a diary of Iron County pioneer George Wood, genealogy materials, and information on the Wood cabin at the Frontier Homestead State Park.

Biographical Information
George Wood was born November 13, 1822 in the Parish of Sedgley in Staffordshire near Birmingham. George left Liverpool, England in 1849 with three Brothers, George, Samuel, Stephen, their wives, the nephew and George's two children, Joseph and Ann. They traveled through New Orleans, Iowa City, then across the plains by wagons to Salt Lake City. George Wood was called by Brigham in 1850 to help settle the Iron Mission in Southern Utah.
