The majority of this collection are photographs taken by Hardy during his time working in the Industrial Design Department. Other items include two magazines and one poem.

Biographical Information

Eugene Hardy was born in Minersville, Utah in 1911 to Arther and Emma Hardy. After graduating in 1930 as class Valedictorian, he attended the National Automotive and Electrical School in Los Angeles California from 1930-1931. Afterwards, we returned to Utah, and attended the Branch Agricultural College two years. He then began working for Bradshaw Chevrolet in Cedar City for two years, as well as the USDA Forest Service in the Beaver Mountains. He married Elma Bird in 1933. He then worked for the Civilian Conservation Corp as foreman in Milford and at Desert Mound until 1938. He attended Utah State Agricultural College (currently Utah State University) the following year, taught for a year in Milford, Utah and then returned to the Branch Agricultural College, in Cedar City, Utah to teach. In February 1942, he took a leave of absence to work as heavy equipment mechanic at Fort Warren, then at Fort Morgan assigned to aerospace and airplane mechanics. He returned to the Branch Agricultural College in the fall of 1942. During his sabbatical leave in 1946-1947, he returned to Utah State Agricultural College for his Bachelor of Science to degree in Industrial Arts. He continued teaching Industrial Arts at the Branch Agricultural College and became the Chairman of the program. Helping to build the faculty cabin (now the College Cabin), was on the Academic Standards Committee and Scholarship Committee, and Chairman of the CSU Traffic and Safety Committee. Also, during this time, he obtained a master's degree at Corvallis, Oregon in 1960. During his time working at the Branch Agricultural College, and later College of Southern Utah, we volunteered with many organizations. Such as the local Lions Club, the Utah Alcoholic Council, and Chairman of the Cedar City Safety Council. Eugene died unexpectedly of a heart ailment on December 15, 1962. A scholarhip was established in his name a year after his passing.
