Biographical History

Zoella Palmer Benson was born the fourth and final daughter to Richard and Mary Palmer on July 1, 1905, in Cedar City, Utah. After she graduated from the B.A.C. High School in 1922, she went on to teach at a one teacher school in Hamilton's Fort, Utah.

Lamont Benson was born on September 18, 1901, to William Benson and Idonna Matheson in Parowan, Utah. His father passed away from typhoid fever two years later. His mother married Lorenzo Matheson in 1908. During his childhood he attended school in Midvalley and Parowan. As a young man he worked in Tooele as a smelter. He later helped with the construction of the Grand Canyon's North Rim Lodge, and the Zion National Park tunnel.

On October 19, 1929, Zoella and Lamont were married in Cedar City, Utah. He then went on to work as at the Columbia Iron Mines and Deseret Mound for twenty-three years, retiring in 1966. Together they had three children, and lived most of their lives in Cedar City, Utah. Lamont passed away on January 7, 1974. With Zoella following on March 18, 1994.
