Biographical / Historical
The Branch Normal School (BNS) was established in 1897 in Cedar City, Utah. Originally built as a training school of educators, the Branch Normal School was designed as an extension school for the University of Utah. It then grew from a small rural training school to the only State Sponsored school in Southern Utah. BNS continued to grow. Within the first fifteen years the student body had grown substantially and in 1913, BNS changed from a Normal School, to a Branch Agricultural College (BAC).
