Institutional History
The Cedar City Arts Committee was created in 1940 as a way to bring the fine arts to Cedar City. During the early years of the Committee, the main focus was the yearly Art Exhibition held in the then BAC High School Auditorium. These exhibits brought the works of artists like Maynard Dixon. Many of the art works were purchased by local companies and schools. Two of the biggest being the Iron Count School District, and the Branch Agricultural College.
As the Committee grew, they were instrumental in the creation of several public fine arts and performing arts events. The committee started to decline and in the 2010s it was disbanded.
