General
Best in the Desert, Inc. has filed for a Special Recreation Permit which would authorize a motorcycle race on public lands in southeastern Lincoln County managed by the Bureau of Land Management's Caliente and Schell Resource Areas. The proposed event, to be held on May 28 and 29, 1992, would be a high-speed, competitive race of approximately 200 participates and 500 sectors, who would congregate in the towns of Calente and Pioche and at designated pit areas. Riders would be grouped into different skill levels ad would complete a course totaling 125 miles. The course would comprise 110 miles of roads, jeep trails, dry washes and previously permitted off-road vehicle courses. The remainder of the course, approximately 15 miles, would create a new cross-country trails.
