Arrangement
This collection has been arranged into two series: I. Serials and II. Reports.
Series I has been arranged alphabetically by publication name, then chronologically.
Series II has been arranged by geographic area into the following three sub-series: 1. Nevada, 2. Utah and 3. Other areas. No other arrangment was used.
Separated Materials
When the collection was first received all items not relating to the American Southwest and Great Basin were removed from the collection. Some of the books were sent to the National Museum of Brazil after they lost their collections in a fire. Others were sold or donated to charity. The magazines and journals were weeded and only those relevant to the collection were retained.
When the collection was also received, all archeaological and environmental reports were seperated from the collections and added to the Special Collections book catalog. In 2025, these reports were added back into the collection, and weeded for any that did not fit Special Collections collecting scope.
