General
The Department of Prisons for the State of Nevada has made application to the Bureau of Land Management for a Recreation and Public Purpose (R&PP) lease of 640 acres in Lake Valley, approximately 8 km (4.5 miles) east of Pioche, for use as the site of a women's prison. A maximum security prison building and associated support features, including a water well and sewage system, would be constructed within a 50 acre parcel; the remaining acreage would provide a security buffer for the prison.
