Biographical Information
Dennis Stowell was born in 1944 in Ogden, Utah. He later attended Brigham Young University where he earned a Bachelor and Master's degree in Chemical Engineering. Prior to 2006 he served as Mayor of Parowan Utah, and as an Iron County Commissioner.
In 2006 he was elected to the Utah State Senate representing District 28, which includes Garfield, Kane, Iron, Beaver, Millard and part of Washington counties. He dedicated his time to water rights, the rural economy and lifestyle and preserving the agricultural roots of Utah, along with serving as vice chairman of the Legislature's appropriations committee.
After being elected to the State Senate he was diagnosed with cancer. Dennis passed away at his home in Parowan on April 17, 2011. He left behind his wife, seven children and seventeen grandchildren.
