TThe Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities record group contains items relating to the accreditation process at Southern Utah University from 1946-2017. Both official reports and self-assessments along with meeting minutes, correspondence, reports, manuals, and handbooks written by NWCCU and Southern Utah University.

Biographical / Historical
The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) is an independent, non-profit membership organizaion recognized by the Federal Government as an institutional accreditor for colleges and universities.
Originally organized in 1917 as the Northwest Association of Secondary and Higher Schools, the organization has changed names multiple times since, including the Northwest Association of Junior Colleges and the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges. Before 2020, the Department of Education reorganized NWCCU as the regional authority on educational quality and effectiveness in seven states, including Utah. As part of it's mission NWCCU has worked with Southern Utah University for decades on accredidation for the university.
