Organizational History
The En Avante, a women's literary club was formed in 1940. There were two meetings a month held in different member's homes. There were several special activities a year, this is where most of the photos were taken that are included in the collection. The club was active for about 64 years.

Items were donated to Special Collections by Carmen Jones in 1999.
Processing Information
This finding aid was created by the Special Collections Staff, Gerald R. Sherratt Library. If print, oversize or other materials have been removed to be stored separately it will be noted. It was reprocessed by Special Collections Staff in 2024. All minutes books and scrapbooks are in the original binders. The pictures in the photo album have been removed and put in archival photo sleeves.
