Majority of items in the collection relate to Presiden't Bennion's time at SUU. Included in these papers are correspondence, speeches, meeting minutes, news clippings, scrapbooks, photograph, awards, programs and other administrative items. Some items in this collection are from his undergraduated education, and outside professional experience.

Biographical Information

Steven Bennion’s professional career started in 1967, where previous positions include serving as president of three institutions: SUU, Ricks College, and Snow College. Bennion began his services at SUU in 1997 and served until he retired in June, 2006. Some of his accomplishments include successfully lobbying for a new Teacher Education building, restoring Old Main, the new Physical Education facility, South Hall, and the formation of the College of Performing and Visual arts and the College of Computing, Engineering, and Technology.

Items in this collection are arranged in two main series. I. Pre-Presidental Papers and II. Presidential Papers. Series II, is arranged by the type of item and its purpose, then chronologically. Sub-series in this section reflect that arrangement.

Accession Information

Some papers were donated by Marge Bennion in 2022, and some papers were added after the Assistant to President Mindy Benson donated files in 2022.
