Biographical / Historical

John S. Woodbury was born on November 16, 1865 to John Stillman Woodbury and Martha Alice Parker. He married May Higbee on July 17, 1895. While living in Cedar City he taught school and was the principal of Cedar District School.

He was a member of the Branch Normal School general committee with Edward J. Palmer and Lehi W. Jones. Later Woodbury joined the faculty of the Branch Normal School and then became manager of the Iron County Telephone Company. Woodbury was an "ardent" Republican and served as a city councilman and later as mayor for two terms. John Woodbury died on December 16, 1949.
